Become an electrician. We train you, and you are paid the whole way through.

This is a five-year apprenticeship. During the day you work for one of our local electrical contractors and earn a wage. In the evenings you come to class at our training center in New Castle. The union and the contractors pay for the training, so there is no tuition. When you finish, you are a fully qualified electrician.

What the program is

A full-time job and a school at the same time, for five years. Here is what that adds up to.

Your pay goes up at each step of the program. When you finish, you are a fully qualified electrician.

The contractors and the union pay for the training. You buy your books and your own hand tools. Starting wage is over $20 an hour.

Your classes can count toward an associate degree at CCBC, and from there a bachelor's degree at Rowan.

How to apply

Apply online

Create an account, answer the questions, upload a copy of your Pennsylvania driver's license and proof of where you live, and ask your school to send your transcript straight to us.

Take the aptitude test

Reading and math, scored 1 to 9. A 4 or higher gets you an interview. Below 4, you can take it again after three months. Practice material is linked on the How to Apply page.

Interview

We schedule it once you have a passing score. Arrive ten minutes early and confirm your appointment.

Selection

If you are selected, you complete a physical and a drug test and a few remaining forms before classes start.

Who can apply

  • 18 or older (high-school seniors can apply if they turn 18 by September 1)
  • High-school diploma or GED
  • Passed Algebra I, or an equivalent course
  • Live in Beaver, Lawrence, Mercer or Crawford County
  • A valid Pennsylvania driver's license with an address in one of those counties
  • A reliable way to get to work and to class
