What Happens After You Apply
Part 2 is a separate process. Most of it is waiting for us to contact you. Each box says whose move it is.
The process from application to a job offer takes several months. We contact you by email and text at each step. Sign in to your application at any time to see its status.

Stage 1 Wait
You've Applied
- Your account is open, the fee is paid and your uploads are in
- We are waiting for your school records
- You have 30 days from opening the account. If your school needs longer, contact us and we will make arrangements
- Sign in to your application to see what has arrived
Stage 2 We Do
Application Complete
- Test dates are set once enough people have applied
- You then get an email and a text message with a link to book your aptitude test
- You take the test on a computer at the training center
Stage 3 You Do
The Aptitude Test

- Two: algebra and reading comprehension

- About three hours
- Arrive
- 10 to 15 minutes early
- Scoring
- 1 to 9
- Score of 4 or higher
- You are guaranteed an interview
- Score of 3 or below
- You may take the test again 90 days after your test date
- Result
- Sent by email. A passing result includes the link to book your interview
Practice for the test
The test covers algebra and reading comprehension. electricprep.com has online practice courses in both, made for people applying to electrical apprenticeships. Khan Academy has free algebra lessons and practice problems if it has been a while since you did algebra.

The booklet shows the national defaults for the retest wait and the list period. Our program chose a 90-day retest wait and a one-year list, and those are the rules on this page.

Stage 4 You Do
The Interview
- You get an email and a text message with a link to book your interview
- Book it as soon as you get the invitation. If you miss it, contact us
- The interview is with a panel of electricians and contractors
- It lasts at least 20 minutes
- Arrive 10 to 15 minutes early, dress as you would for any job interview, and bring questions
- Not everyone who is interviewed is selected
Stage 5 Wait
On the List
- Your interview score sets your place on the ranked list
- You stay on the list for one year from your interview date
- When a contractor needs an apprentice, the offer goes to the top of the list
- Note your interview date. We do not send a reminder when your year is up
Stage 6 We Do
The Offer
- We call you with an offer to go to work for a local contractor
- You must pass a drug test and a physical examination
- We work with you on your start date
- You are paid from your first day on the job
- You need a laptop for class and bring it every class night
Stage 7 You Do
If a Year Passes Without an Offer
This sends you back to Part 1.
- Start a new application. Applications are accepted from September 1 to March 31
- You usually do not need a new transcript. Contact us to check
- You take the aptitude test again, and you will be interviewed again. Your earlier score doesn't carry over
